Okay, so hurricane Frances came through (I know, it's like, old news now...) We fared pretty well, our area actually didnt get anything but strong winds (and not until late Saturday night) and it didnt even really start raining hard until Sunday morning (at the end of the hurricane).
We actually get treated pretty nicely during most of the bad storms: we're far enough west and high enough not to flood, and we're inland enough to not get full force untamed winds, the only drawback is we lose power like socks in a dryer. If there's a breeze over 30 mph were losing power, its a given.
Ivan missed us, its coming back now, but you know....
The breeze played our first show septmber 11, it was a nice short, sweet 30 minute set. And actually it was very comfortable to be up there with the group. Looks like we'll be doing it again on October 3rd. The only thing that sucks is they have me singing background vocals and I HATE MY VOICE !!!! (except in the shower or in the car...)
School is peace, we start hosting a weekly jam session on campus next Tuesday (s'gonna be hot!!!!) I've actually been writing kinda regularly now too.
I will attempt to see The Roots for the third time next Wednesday in Miami (keep your fingers crossed and pray for me, I've been having bad luck trying to catch them for the past year plus.)
Basically, life is just really good right now. Wallace is right, its seems like there's only a little to write about when life is going well...

Gearing Up....
Okay, we are two weeks into school and two days away from a hurricane. Life.... go fig.
So check it out, school:
WOW! We actually have a saxophone section this semester. Heck, we actually have HORNS this semester. Like 8 saxes, a flute, three trombones... all we need is two more trumpets. We have a solid and dependable rhythm section (DEPENDABLE!) It's already almost too good to be true.
The music business aspect is jumping off too! I am the business liason for the Chamber Pops Ensemble, and we're already trying to line things up for a big gig in Hollywood. I'm also helping to organize a weekly jam session that will be hosted at the school.
AND I might have an internship at the church under our orchestra dircetor doing some writing and arranging.
Till the hurricane announced itself, our band was committed to practicing everyday this week and every other day next week to prepare for our show. We have to take a break after tonight, but hopefully we'll be back in action on Sunday.
As far as Frances is concerned, we all stocked up provision-wise, and we're probably gonna board up tommorrow. After that it will just be a matter of waiting it out. It brings all the memories from hurricane Andrew back. But I figure, if we made it through one, we cam make it through two. Keep us in your prayers nonetheless.
Aight, thats enough for tonight...
