Long Time No Speak
What is the good word ya'll?????
Sorry I've been so deliquent on this end, but it's all good cuz I've been quite disciplined in other areas. My practice schedule has been quite structured, and I've even managed to squeeze a lil' writing in too! (More musical than lyrical) Night Cello is coming to a local venue near you (if you live in the South Florida area that is...). That's the new group that our electric cello player ( a Mr. Francis Fiske) is putting together, and it looks like I will have the honor of holding down the lead tenor spot. It's gonna be nice, lot of straight ahead stuff with some latin flavor thrown in. And I've got a whole SLEW of arranging ideas, some of which have absolutely nothing to do with Night Cello, but alot that do and I'm quite looking forward to working those in.
It all sounds good on screen, but we've got a ways to go (at least I do, and that's really NOT being modest). We've basically got three months to iron out any personal or ensemble kinks, and then we hit the scene in September. But I really think it's going to be awesome, the dynamic of the group is amazing, there is an incredible amount of potential energy gathering in our corner of the universe so be on the lookout.
Otherwise, life is still all good (what's new right?). I'm still trying to figure my head around the fact that I'm supposed to TEACH poetry this summer to a bunch of students who can probably write metaphorical circles and analytical loops around me. It's all part of the lifelong learning experience though right?
Last note: working in a kitchen is still pretty agreeable, but I still haven't been fully trained, I'm pretty much learning as I go, I haven't been fired yet (and a lot of people have...) so that's gotta be a good sign for now...Whatch out though, my crabcakes are DEADLY!!!!
