Keeping the habit
Aight half a week later, I’m forcing myself to post, just so I don’t fall into another February-type slump…
My music business class has been kickin my arse, trying to get all our stuff together for a concert that we are putting on next Tuesday (hope ya’ll are still praying for us…). On top of that, we’ve all been given assignment posts for next semester, even though we don’t have the class. It’s going to be a worthwhile setup, but damn, we gotta breathe (summer is only a matter of weeks away….) How its setup is that every music business student will be an advisor to one of the ensembles at the school. I’m going to be liaison to the Pop Ensemble, which will be good because I’ve already got a whole plan in my head of how to make improvements for next semester.
On top of that though, I have to perform twice on Friday for my world history class, although I might only play once and take my chances with the final grade. So after this, I’m going to go write the piece and then hopefully find some people to play it with me.
Okay let’s see what else…..
Village Marketplace opened yesterday and our first day went extremely well, I go back in tomorrow and I have a couple of personal improvements to make, but I’ll be aight. That’s about it, I have been trying to flesh out a lot of musical ideas lately, but I haven’t been working with the pen –which reminds me, we have an E-mail cipher going now so be on the lookout in your mailboxes (you know who I’m talking about) nothing two complicated, just type at least eight bars before you pass it on. We’re going nationwide with this one (hopefully) I’m looking at Florida, Texas, and Cali.
Aight that’s it, my obligation has been fulfilled, so till the next

Okay, NOW we're back to the grindstone...
Aight, aight world, I’m back! It’s been a hectic minute, but it’s time to get back in it, here my life is represented, as a glimpse into the infinite!
Alright, here’s what went down…. I started training at Village Marketplace, (I’m cooking now, so ladies watch out!!! ) it’s shaping up to be a lot of fun. I like the people I’m in the kitchen with, and the management seems really on the level. We open on Tuesday and that’s when the real test begins. I know I have a slightly biased perspective, but I think that our store is poised to do very well in terms of competing. Our menu is massive, and we have to cook all the food that goes out into the cold/hot cases, in addition to all the food that gets ordered during the regular meal rushes. I can’t wait for Tuesday…
School-wise, the Pop Ensemble just held our concert Wednesday. That was quite an ordeal, I’m accustomed to having everything kinda uncertain and on-edge until the last possible minute, but that’s on a personal level. When I’m involved in a group, I like things to have a definite direction and structure to it. Of course, we pulled the concert off, rather nicely in fact, but I was very displeased with the lack of coherence on the students part before hand. But, what’s done is done, and what was done was done well in the end (and there was food involved so, I can’t complain too much). Next up is the faculty showcase my music business class is coordinating…serious stress!!! I didn’t leave school today until after 9:30 p.m. (12+ hours), but the hardest part is done, now the most important part: pulling this whole thing off should fall pretty much into place. SHOULD fall pretty much into place (pray for me – no pray for us ya’ll)
What else did you miss?
The Bela Fleck and the Flecktones concerts was beyond description! They were ill last year, but this year they were sooo much better! And they’ve been at this like ten years now, how are they still making all these advances? That’s the type of thing that is overwhelmingly exhilarating and frightening at the same time
There’s more, but I don’t wannna type too much at once (I’ve been writing papers and synopses for the past three weeks…)
So till tomorrow (later today now…) or Sunday

Is Spring Break Over Yet?
The way my weekends have been going, I think not. I got absolutely no sleep this weekend. Friday I went to one of the campus invasion concerts at FIU, that went till after 2 a.m., then I had to drive home (it was in Miami). Saturday, I planned on crashing during the day, and didn't. Then that night, I went down into Miami again (only further south this time) to record the band's gig, and with the time change, I didn't make it back in till almost 4 a.m. Finally, last night I went to see Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, and after the concert we hung with them for a little bit, then went to Deerfield (north this time) to listen to some more music. I know, I'm addicted....
One thing that really got to me at Friday's concert, was the lack of crowd response. I noticed it at last month at the underground concert, but I dismissed it as "oh, maybe these people think they're too underground to dance...". There were at least head nods though. Friday, there was almost no movement whatsoever, I can understand people not all-out dancing in the middle of a field (it was an outdoor concert), but there were barely even people who were head-nodding. If the performers tried to get the crowd hype (hands in the air, make some noise, all that..), it didn't last for more than four bars at a time. These were mainstream commercial acts, who go platinum like two weeks after they drop, I couldn't figure it out. This is the type of music that they play all night long in the clubs, and it's live on top of that, and people are just standing there. It baffled me completely. And from the applause and shouts at the end of each song, it seemed like the crowd was actually enjoying themselves.... I don't know, maybe its "gansta" not to dance or something... I've never been more confused in my life. N-E-ways, I'm tired as hell, I need to catch up on some sleep and some school work - you know what, I'm boycotting spring break next year, it's knocked me all off track. Call me a hata, but my GPA's gonna represent (cuz it might not this semester...)
Aight, ya'll know the routine, I'm out/ holla back but don't shout/ Cuz now sleep is what I'm about/ little zzz's and counting sheep, a couple pillows, no doubt!/ Lights out...

Down Syndrome
Lately, over the past two weeks, I've found that I'm having trouble staying awake and motivated if I'm home after 8pm, my body just wants to shut down. It's definitely a mental thing, but I'm not sure what to do yet. If I'm out and about, I'm fine, but if I'm home, even if I have work to do, I just lose all motivation and drive. I would probably be asleep right now, but being at the computer seems to keep me up a little (unless I'm writing a paper, then I'm nosedown in the keyboard....). Hopefully, this is just a very short-lived phase, cuz I can't operate like this, especially with only 4 weeks left in the semester... alright I'm starting to get tired again, this is absolutely hopeless....I'm out
[yawn]
P.S. I just realized today is April 1st, and nobody's pulled any pranks or anything, has that finally gotten too old? Even my little brother declined on hijinx...
[yawn again]
for real this time.... holla back
